All the Pretty Bathroom Details

It's week THREE of the One Room Challenge and things are heating up! We've had some electrical complications, we've had a sink get lost in the mail (how ???), we had to return a bathtub and get a new one, and we haven't even touched the plumbing yet... I might be just a little worried about that part.

But we also have lots of pretty fixtures and tiles ready to go for the weeks ahead!

In such a small room, with a sloped ceiling, we wanted to maximize the little natural light we get in here. So we went with lots of reflective finishes, and of course white! I know the latest trends lean toward dark and moody tones, which could have looked amazing in here if this were a powder room or less used. But this is the bathroom we use to get ready for the day, and it's been a dark cave for 3 years, so bring on the light!!!

We're using a very natural palette with the plaid rug and some brass tones, plus natural slate on the floor. And... although we want to bring this into the 21st century, we want it to reflect the 1920 craftsman house that it lives in. So you'll see the more vintage fixtures for the tub and sink, as well as beadboard on the walls.

What I'm most excited about is mixing metal finishes - chrome and brass. I’ve never tried to mix finishes before, but making this final mood board with the actual products I purchased really helped me visualize how they will look and feel together in the end.

And it’s given me energy to keep going while the bathroom is still in a torn up phase! This coming week we’re completing the rough plumbing and hopefully the electrical as well. Once that’s done we’ll be ready to put things back together again!!!

Everything total was less than $1300! Our budget is $3000 for our total reno, and believe me, the stuff behind the walls is always more expensive than you expect. So keeping the pretty stuff under half the budget was a must. You will find links to all items for our bathroom and the quick budget breakdown below:

Slate Floor Tile $3.50/sqft | White Wall Tile $2.19 sqft | Bead Board $23
